Ninetone signs Avdelning 44 – to elevate local humor to national level

Ninetone has signed a management agreement with the humor group Avdelning 44. Together, the parties will develop the group's brand and bring their locally rooted humor to a significantly larger, national audience.
Avdelning 44 has experienced explosive growth on social media in a short time. With sharp characters and satire inspired by local events, the group has built a rapidly growing and engaged audience.
The local anchoring will continue to be a central part of Avdelning 44. At the same time, Ninetone sees clear national potential in the situations, characters, and phenomena depicted.
– We see this as a great opportunity to take the next step and reach a much larger audience. The humor originates in Sundsvall, but the characters and situations are recognizable everywhere. With Ninetone, we get a team that can help us develop Avdelning 44 without losing what has made the series what it is, says the series' creator, screenwriter, and director Daniel Woxlin.
The collaboration begins with the third season of Avdelning 44. The season premieres on the group's YouTube channel on Sunday, August 2. Thereafter, a new episode will be published every week throughout the fall.
– Avdelning 44 demonstrates a brilliance in its humor that can go as far as it wants. It's sharp, fearless, and folksy at the same time. The fact that the humor is rooted in local events is not a limitation – it's one of the group's greatest strengths. Our task will be to create the right conditions for Avdelning 44 to grow and establish itself at a national level, says Patrik Frisk, CEO of Ninetone.
The plans don't stop at new episodes. Work is already underway on a live performance planned for summer 2027. The team doesn't want to reveal exactly what the audience can expect.
– We can say that it will be Avdelning 44, but in a format that the audience has not seen before. More than that I probably shouldn't say right now – but we promise to return with more information shortly, says Daniel Woxlin.
