Roger Pontare, born on October 17, 1951 in Arjeplog, is one of Sweden's most beloved music artists, known for his unique voice and his Sámi heritage. With a career spanning several decades, Pontare has become a central figure in folk pop and schlager. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 1994 with Marie Bergman and in 2000 with the song When Spirits Are Calling My Name, where he reached seventh place. Pontare's musical journey includes performances in Melodifestivalen with the winning song När vindarna viskar mitt namn in 2000, as well as contributions such as Silverland and Himmel och hav. As the father of Vincent Pontare, a member of the duo Vargas & Lagola, his musical legacy continues to live on.
